Word-Clouds to Scheduling - Random to Order

March 2, 2017

Of these inspirational sagas, essays and stories, many describe hidden or latent reasons behind our jobs, careers and positions in society as teachers, one of my favorites was from Lily Eskelsen Garcia, #7. There are many more you might find fun to watch, especially as we motor through this late season.  Spring Break is right around the corner.
This word cloud is what I was trying to articulate during our PD time Wednesday.
It is exactly what goes on here now in this building!  Each of you work so hard, accomplish so much, and reach farther into lives than many others, yet as a team, the synergy reaches even farther.
Nice work, Team!

It seemed like so many people were connecting, understanding the goals, obstacles and conflict.  It was also great to see folks put the good of the group first.  I appreciated so many folks stepping up and reviewing the 17-18 master schedule.  We will continue to maximize our learning opportunities throughout the planning.  Listening to so much good brainstorming, collaboration, suggestion and positive thinking, I can’t wait to see what it looks like.  Now that we have all studied the problem, let’s see what we can do.
Thank you team for all your hard work this month, quarter, year and every day.  So many stepped up to help with so many things like; the Warrior Way Store, The Red/Black Card Movie, the Master Calendar, covering each other’s duties, supporting substitute teachers, preparing for last minute change of plans, (like science taking the day for PD), compassion towards students less fortunate than themselves, handing out pencils, offering help and even just listening to students who normally go home to an empty house. Your job is so much more than just a job.  When I contemplate the impact you have on the future, I know you are each in a good place, for yourselves and the students.
Secret to keep from the kids to make your world easier: We will get a substitute for Mr Rodgers so he can supervise lunch and act as the building Administrator in the afternoon.  Please try and keep students in the rooms as much as possible since Kristen will not be able to supervise or talk many students “off the cliff” while in the office by herself.  Please continue to remain diligent in during passing times.
Finally, remember empathy is tough enough to develop with a full vocabulary but students lacking sufficient auditory stimulation in their formative youngest years struggle without a full array of words, expressions and phonemic awareness.  This implies one more thing for teachers to do, before they can even teach, is to prepare students mind for the learning, sharing a connecting story, building a bridge from the past to the present and projecting hope for a future that exists with them succeeding.  This is education.

Thank you.

As KG says,  YOU GOT THIS.

Tom

#BeTheChange
Brainstorming as a group allowed us to come up with many great ideas on how we can connect better with ourselves and each other, trying to make friends out of everyone, including our enemies.
Public speaking in front of over 150 students and adults to summarize our work allowed them the chance to really shine! Nice Job everyone.
